Module Code 單元編號 GEK3019 Module Title 單元名稱 CREATING A FLOURISHING POSITIVE EDUCATION SCHOOL 建構營造正向教育的學校 Module Synopsis 單元概要 Positive education is a new educational paradigm that aims to better serve the needs of culturally diverse students and highly pressurized teachers in the competitive atmosphere of Hong Kong. The goal of Positive Education is to assist community members (e.g. students and teachers) towards positive functioning by dovetailing evidence-based cases in the reality. It supports students’ and teachers’ striving to achieve their fullest potential and to flourish in life both inside and outside school, contributing continuously to a harmonious community and society. Embedded in the historical, social, cultural, and political context of Hong Kong, this course aims to prepare student teachers to understand the current knowledge on positive education and its successful applications in school settings to enhance students’ and teachers’ strengths and wellbeing. In addition, the course intends to cultivate a sense of professionalism, etical concerns, and pastoral care and reinforce the interpersonal competencies and leadership skills needed to create positive education schools through collaboration with parents, colleagues, school leaders, and community partners. This course utilizes a variety of pedagogical, social, ethicial approaches such as case studies, blended learning, action learning, and reflective practice to ensure its practical nature.
