Module Synopsis
單元概要
Emotions are intimately involved in virtually every aspect of individuals’’ daily life and, therefore, an understanding of the nature of emotion and how it relates to the context is essential. This course is appropriate for all students as well as those interested in understanding their emotions and applying emotional regulation in life, learning, and future working environments. The course will provide a platform for students to understand and regulate their emotions in the contexts of family, community, and society. It aims at cultivating Positive Emotions, Positive Relationships and Communications, Positive Accomplishments, and Positive Health. The course is divided into three parts. The first part of the course aims at understanding human emotions and emotion regulation from a theoretical and ethical perspective. This part will focus on the recent theories of emotion and emotion regulation in the modern literature. In the second part, the course will focus on how the contexts (culture, society, community, family, and peer) relate to human emotion and emotion regulation. This will help students understand the concepts and applications from the theoretical and empirical perspectives and pursuit individual excellence. This will begin with international studies and move on to more local empirical studies. The third part will focus on how to apply emotional strategies from the empirical studies to students’ real-life settings through taking contextual information into account. It will support students to appropriately analyse their emotions and take actions in real-life settings. Students will learn to assess and utilize relevant emotional, cultural, and social strategies in different life and work situations. This course serves as introduction for cultivating students’ professional emotions such as teacher emotion.
