Technology-driven innovations appear to steer the world development towards a commonly-shared modernisation and civilisation. The direction is so evident, clear and forward-looking that we might get lost in our personal vision. The breathtaking speed of transformation often does not allow for meaningful reflection. This course is for students to take pause – to think, experience and make meaningful reflection about the different and novel perspectives on the digital age; and reconsider how to live well in such new realities. The course will guide students to explore alternative worldviews and search for an art of living. By the art of living, it refers to the capabilities for leading a good life in the digital age. This course will enlighten students with broad perspectives and guide them, as well-informed individual and thoughtful global citizens, to ‘craft’ an art of living encompassing different versions (e.g. non-materialistic life, green lifestyle, spiritual life etc.) of a virtuous life associated with morality and wisdom. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will acquire some form of awareness, and reflective skills for living well in the digital age, including literacy for developing strategies and making decisions for societal well-being and sustainable futures.
