Digital technology can be an agent of change to instructional, learning and assessment practices regardless of discipline. Yet, successful integration of technology is not always guaranteed and is subject to many factors. Of which, leadership that can steer the team to adopt the right strategies for the success of the institution or organisation, i.e. digital leadership, is of paramount importance. This course will introduce participants to the key concepts, theories, and practices that are pertinent to cultivating digital leadership and leveraging the affordance of digital technologies for transforming teaching, learning and evaluation in across sectors. It aims to lay a sturdy foundation for advanced exploration and discussion of the professional knowledge, skills and innovation related to digital learning. The significance of digital leadership to the strategic success of an organisation will be discussed. Contextual needs, challenges and contemporary use of digital technologies will also be analysed to raise participants’ professional awareness to the new developments and the transformational power of digital technologies in Hong Kong and in international contexts. Participants will be guided to discuss and reflect on their own digital leadership capabilities, ways to enhance the relevant capabilities, and their roles in digital transformation. They will also be expected to identify problems in existing practices and devise meaningful use of digital technologies for addressing challenges in instruction, learning and/or evaluation in authentic work settings to strengthen the theory-practice nexus and promote innovation across sectors.
