LEADING SCHOOL-BASED TEACHER LEARNING
Module Synopsis
單元概要
Teacher leaders need to know how school-based teacher professional development can support both the learning needs of the teachers and the organisational needs of the school to exercise effective leadership in teacher learning. This course situates teacher leadership in school-based professional development in its context and practices, and in the capacities it seeks to achieve via school-based teacher development. The course objective is to provide teacher leaders with the thinking tools and a space to explore the topic in five domains: School-Based Management; Teacher Culture; Student-Centred Learning; Reflective Dialogue; and Collaborative Teacher Learning. Course participants will gain an appreciation of how school-based teacher learning operates within the broader context of school-based management. They will understand how teacher culture shapes diverse implications on the way teacher leaders may design for school-based teacher learning. Participants will be given the space to explore these leadership contexts and culture in relation to supporting schools to develop capacities for student-centred learning via collaborative learning and reflective dialogue among the teachers. They will also be challenged to appraise how context and culture underlie their leadership practices, and to develop leadership styles with the thinking tools presented in this course.
