TEACHER DEVELOPMENT IN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS |
Module Synopsis 單元概要 |
This course examines school and teacher development at four levels: 1) the individual by examining professional reflection and teacher appraisal practices that are common in international schools. 2) professional learning communities (eg, subject- or year-level teachers), by considering how teachers work in collaboration to improve teaching and learning; 3) the curriculum by comparing different approaches to curriculum review and teachers’ roles in doing so. 4) the school by examining teacher involvement in school-wide review, such as self-study and external school review (e.g., accreditation) and the role of external groups (such as the International Baccalaureate Organization or the Council of International Schools) in this process. The course accordingly aims to provide students with a holistic view of school improvement activities in which international school teachers are engaged. The course will draw on students’ prior learning to draw comparisons between international and national/local system schools. |
