In many countries, education law is a compulsory core course, being a condition of a registered teacher. Imagine the disadvantageous situations that teachers may experience if they cannot protect properly their own rights and the rights of their students. For example, teachers need to know how to minimize the risk of litigation when conducting an outing. Being a teacher, s/he should also understand the legal system, especially in a rapidly changing environment that demands better preparation for complex encounters. This course raises students’ awareness of legal issues in school settings, such as bullying and child abuse. After taking this course, students are expected to know how to analyze the legal aspects of education policies and daily school activities. Guided tours will be conducted to experience the connections among education, history, society and law to stimulate further inquiry and rethinking of the education system.
