It outlines the milestones, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, from 0 to 6 years old. It also connects language development to the affective thinking (e.g. culture and identity) of children. Grounded on the ecological perspective, this course explains facilitative roles of peers, parents, and teachers. Specifically, it focuses on play-based facilitations such as language games, songs and rhythms, and storytelling. Participants are expected to understand the developmental milestones and select proper facilitative strategies to foster children’s language developments.
