It develops students’ understanding of the theoretical foundations of Classical Test Theory and the Rasch Measurement Model, and their application to the construction and evaluation of classroom tests. Students learn to construct and select test items, develop tables of specifications, and analyse and interpret test data using ShinyTAM, an open online Rasch analysis platform developed at The Education University of Hong Kong. The course emphasises practical, evidence-based interpretation of item and person performance, including item difficulty, fit statistics, Wright maps, reliability, and distractor functioning, to support classroom assessment and instructional decision-making.
