Module Code 單元編號 CSL1049 Module Title 單元名稱 WALKING WITH THE HANDICAPPED 無障礙同行 Module Synopsis 單元概要 This course aims at raising students’ awareness in the needs of the physically and mentally handicapped through connecting them to these communities with the implementation of a specially planned service project . The course will provide students with the skills, knowledge, and experiences in caring for and understanding about the handicapped so as to change their attitude towards these communities. Students will first learn concepts on service learning, as well as knowledge about the accessibility and care of the handicapped. To achieve these objectives, students will then be asked to provide services to the hanicapped with the supervision of partner NGOs, for example, accompanying the handicapped to accomplish some tasks or visit different parts of Hong Kong as their tour guides. Through such activities, students will develop leadership skills and cultivate caring attitude towards the handicapped. Students may make critical exploration of social policies of the HKSAR government on handicapped as well.
