RITHA Specialist Programme Asia 2021 (Block 1) Radbound International Training on High Ability (RITHA) (English only)

Introduction
 
This programme is recognized by the European Council for High Ability (the ECHA), Radboud University as a part of the RITHA Specialist Programme. This programme aims to help develop your role as a teacher and/or counsellor of gifted students/people and to assist you in implementing gifted programmes in your own learning environment.
 
 
Achievement upon the completion
 
Trained school professionals will look at students in a different way, recognizing characteristics that can indicate high abilities and, more important, a need for a different curriculum, more apt to challenge the students and teach them to learn (think, persist, and be creative). Other professionals like psychologists and pedagogues can enlarge the scope of their working environment towards the gifted target groups.
 
 
Programme outlines
 
Educating Gifted and Talented Youth, the first module of the RITHA Specialist programme, covers all important aspects of gifted education, such as identifying issues in gifted education, the social and emotional development of gifted students, gifted education programme design and policy. It contains 53 hours of self-study (e.g. reading, assignments), 24 hours of online instruction (e.g. online lectures, online discussion forum) and a 3-hour final exam online.

Learning outcome
 
You will obtain a scientifically based framework of gifted education and learn where to find and how to critically review new information for purposes of shaping and building your own personal views and practices.
 
 
Blended Learning
  1. Online seminar (3 days): Introduction to Gifted Education

Get to know the intellectual, social and emotional characteristics of gifted and talented people, how to identify them and how to provide appropriate educational services and/ or support.

  1. Online course: Educating Gifted and Talented Youth

This course covers important themes in gifted education, with the goal of teaching students how the talent development needs of gifted students can be met within an educational setting through a variety of pedagogies and programmes.

Training dates: 6 June 2021 – 3 October 2021, including 3 weeks summer break in July & August and an exam week upon the completion of the training (see below Timetable)
