This series of workshops aim to enhance the professional knowledge of teaching assistants to understand the students' diverse learning needs, develop the positive attitudes of acceptance and master the role and job skills of the support team in order to care the needy students. Participants will learn the concept, policy and practical skills of integrated education, and develop the positive attitudes of acceptance to the students. After completion of the workshop, participants should be able to assist teachers to care and teach the students with diverse learning needs in school.

The workshops aim at enhancing the knowledge and skills of the front-line teacher assistants, who are working in special schools, in assisting teachers to cater for students with special educational needs. Participants will learn the principles and policy of special education, acquire the practical skills and develop a positive and appropriate attitude to students. On completion of the workshop, participants should know how to assist teachers in helping students with special educational needs in special schools.

Training Course for Special School Teachers 2020-2021

(EDB Course Code: SE0020210025)

One year (240-hours Course learning + 6-month Practicum)

The TCSST aims at enhancing of special school teachers’ competency in teaching students with ‘severe or multiple disabilities’ in special schools. Emphasis will be put on both theoretical and practical aspects such as designing and conducting intervention plans and developing corresponding learning materials. Participants will further review the methods of evaluating the learning of students with ‘severe or multiple disabilities’ and how the acquired educational strategies and skills will benefit these students. On completion of the course, participants will be able to apply the necessary professional knowledge and skills in catering for the students with ‘severe or multiple disabilities’, and coordinate expertise, manpower and resources within school to support these students.
