Synopsis

The recent introduction of Career and Life Planning Education (CLPE) around 2014 in Hong Kong has become an educational agenda in senior secondary schools. There are calls for the implementation of a whole-school approach and the gradual change of career teachers to career planning teachers who can assume the roles of career coordinators, career facilitators and career counsellors. In this paper, the roles of teachers in career and life planning education are explored with reference to data from an international project conducted in Hong Kong. The implications for future CLPE are also discussed.
