During the session, Prof. Skouteris provided a comprehensive overview of her team’s SEMPRE program of research.

Workshop 1: Designing Equitable University and School Programmes: Applying Intervention Mapping-Equity (IM-E) to Improve Outcomes

This workshop focused on embedding equity principles into program design, implementation, and evaluation. The workshop introduced the steps of Intervention Mapping–Equity (IM-E)and provided opportunities for participants to consider how this structured approach can strengthen the intervention design work they currently undertake. By the end of the session, participants walked away with a clearer understanding of how to design and implement programs that promote fairness, reduce inequities, and improve outcomes for priority populations.

Workshop 2: Turning Research into Practice in Education and Mental Health: Adoption, Feasibility and Sustainability

This workshop examined why psychosocial and neuroscience-based interventions that demonstrate strong evidence often struggle to achieve real-world impact. Drawing on implementation science, it explored how interventions must be designed and evaluated not only for effectiveness, but also for adoption, feasibility, and sustainability. The session included an extended discussion on the challenges and opportunities of implementing such interventions in education and mental health contexts.

About the Speaker

Prof. Helen Skouteris is a developmental psychologist, a Monash Warwick Professor of Health and Social Care Improvement and Implementation Science, and Head of the Health and Social Care Unit in the Faculty of Medicine at Monash University.
