Presentation Topic:
Interdisciplinary projects: The implementation at upper primary and junior secondary levels

Abstract:
With an emphasis on project learning, many schools are facing the problem of the need to include projects in each subject. This incurs a heavy workload on the students in having to complete a number of different projects for various subjects in a school year. To address this problem, schools may consider introducing interdisciplinary projects. This session aims to introduce to teachers how to construct interdisciplinary projects for upper primary and junior secondary students. It starts with an analysis of related curriculum theories and arrives at principles for the design of interdisciplinary projects. Examples for upper primary and junior secondary levels will also be introduced. The session concludes with a discussion on implementation issues and suggests ways to support student learning as they work on interdisciplinary projects.
