CENTRE FOR LANGUAGE IN EDUCATION

Meet & Greet 2019

The yearly Meet and Greet event organized by the International Tutors (ITs) and English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) Teams was held on October 15, 2019. Twenty three guests, including Vice-Presidents, Deans, Heads and representatives of departments /centres / units attended the meeting in the Arthur Samy Language Learning Centre of the Centre for Language in Education (CLE).

On the 15th of October in the Arthur Samy Language Learning Centre, a Meet and Greet event was held. This is a yearly get-together for International Tutors (ITs) and English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) to meet with the Vice-Presidents, Deans, Heads and representatives of departments/centres/units of the University.

This year’s meeting was kicked off by a welcoming speech given by Professor John Lee, Vice President (Academic) and Provost of the University. It was followed by the introduction of the two teams.

The International Tutor Team started by explaining how they worked to broaden students’ cultural horizons and provided academic teaching support through workshops, consultations, clubs, and other activities. The English Teaching Assistant Team also detailed their efforts in lifting students who are struggling with English to greater heights through four courses in the Accelerated Learning Track (ALT).

The Meet and Greet event ended with a mingling session where the hosts and guests had a rich exchange of ideas.

CLE would like to thank all the guests for making the Meet and Greet event a success. We hope that through this annual event, the Senior Management could have a better understanding of the language support the two teams are offering to students and that we could all work together to promote the use and learning of English.
