Congratulations to Dr. Eric Cheng for his new book titled “Developing Metacognitive Teaching Strategies Through Lesson Study”, published by Springer in 2021.

This book addresses the application of Lesson Study approach for crafting metacognitive teaching knowledge and skills to tackle the impact and challenges created by and underlie the competency-based curriculum. It discusses the potential of using Lesson Study for crafting pedagogies that could nurture student abilities for self-regulation and for facilitating effective curriculum implementation. The book creates new research dimensions by linking metacognitive teaching with Lesson Study and Variation Theory.

The book itself adopts a metacognitive teaching design to provide scaffolding instruction for learners to experience metacognitive learning.
