Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a trendy word for corporations, during his decade-long interactions with corporations, yet Mr Hahn Chun experienced the ambiguity of CSR when it comes to environmental issues. Corporations’ enthusiasm in campaigns like switching off non-essential lights, supermarkets donating off-shelf food has all been through a long struggling process worth reflections. Mr Chu is a veteran environmental protection advocates working in the non-government organizations, he will share with you his observations through his many involved campaign cases.
Mr Hahn Chu is an Independent Commentator on Environmental Issues. He is former Senior Environmental Affairs Manager of the Friends of the Earth (HK). He receives his Master degree at the Lancaster University in Environment, Society and Culture. His undergraduate training is in Journalism at the National Chengchi University in Taiwan, and has been a journalist reporting environmental issues and deprived groups for many years, receiving awards including Earth Award and Excellence in Human Rights Reporting. He has co-edited a book in Chinese on Light Pollution in Hong Kong in 2008 (《夠照》), he also teaches for the HKCSS Institute, and member of the Support Group on Municipal Solid Waste Charging of the Council for Sustainable Development. He became a core member of The Parents Concern Group on National Education in 2012. Receiving a full scholarship, Mr Chu has completed the HKUST EMBA Program in 2013.
