The Centre for Governance and Citizenship (CGC) held a seminar on “Education for cosmopolitan citizenship”, conducted by Prof. Audrey Osler, on 24 November 2009 (Tuesday), 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, at Room B3-P-13, Tai Po Campus.

Prof. Audrey Osler is Visiting Professor at the Centre for Governance and Citizenship, the Hong Kong Institute of Education. In this seminar, Professor Osler will consider what education for cosmopolitan citizenship based on human rights principles might look at in concrete terms, drawing on young people's perspectives in order to propose a theoretical framework which is both workable and flexible enough to address contemporary concerns.

Prof. Osler is currently Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds, UK and the Founding Director of the Centre for Citizenship and Human Rights Education at the University of Leeds. She is the editorial board member of Gender and Education; Education, Citizenship and Social Justice; and Journal of Praxis in Multicultural Education (University of Nevada). Her research expertise is in: Human Rights Education; Citizenship Education; and Children’s Rights.
