A Staff Development Workshop on “Effective Lesson Observation and Evaluation” conducted by Professor Ko Po Yuk, the Director of Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), with the assistance of Miss Chan Wing Yan and Miss Rachel Kwok, for around fifty teachers of Hong Kong Southern District Government Primary School was held on 21 September 2022. Professor Ko introduced the theories and framework of lesson observation and post-observation conferencing skills. Using video clips as examples, Professor Ko discussed with the teachers how to apply the relevant theories and skills in conducting school-based lesson observation activities for enhancing teaching effectiveness. The teacher participants commented that the examples provided and the various activities enabled them to understand how to evaluate an observed lesson effectively and had facilitated them to reflect on how to adopt lesson observation and evaluation activities for developmental purpose.
