Classes have been suspended due to the epidemic in the past few months in Hong Kong. However, to achieve the goal of “suspending classes without suspending learning”, many frontline teachers, organizations in the community, and representatives of IT education business partners have disseminated their online teaching experience and professional knowledge through various means, hoping to provide timely support to the frontline teachers as well as the school leaders. The unprecedented challenges have triggered not only the new norm of online teaching and blended learning but also offered opportunities to stretch the imagination of members of the education sector to further explore and practice teaching innovations. It is hoped that students’ learning needs could be met through both online and offline so as to offer students a fruitful learning experience.
Before the full resumption of face-to-face classes at all schools in September 2020, 17 organizations and CELT have jointly organized five online interdisciplinary sharing sessions for collegial exchange of teaching experience among colleagues in the education sector and interested people from across sectors for better preparation of class resumption. In addition, the available online teaching resources have been compiled with concerted effort into more comprehensive teaching packages for timely dissemination among colleagues of the education sector.
