Li Yin-yee is an accomplished athlete, having raced to many victories in the 800-metre and 1,500-metre track events. Her studies at the Institute have enabled her to pursue her training and exploit her athletic experience in her teaching.
"The Institute provides tremendous support for physical education students and encourages us to keep participating in sports while we are learning how to teach.
Doing sports helps you to see things from the students' perspective," said Yin-yee, who graduated in 2002 with a Certificate in Secondary Education, specializing in physical education and is now teaching in a local secondary school.
She was named Most Valuable Player of the Year at the Institute in 2001, and Best Woman Athlete among all of Hong Kong's tertiary institutions in 2002. But her priority is teaching.
"The Institute's programme has taught me how to be a good physical educator, not just the theory of physical education. I think it's the most important thing we learn," she said.
