The Education University of Hong Kong Annual Report 2024-2025 8 President’s Overview 校長的話 EdUHK’s education continues to be distinguished by its deep commitment to fostering core virtues and values. To this end, we have integrated national education, national security education, teacher ethics and values education into both formal and non-formal learning activities. Our pioneering New Six Arts courses, modelled on classical Chinese education, with an aim to deepen students’ appreciation of Chinese culture while imparting essential life skills. Our commitment extends to developing education that emphasises positive values and social responsibility, supporting the vision of building a cohesive and forward-looking society. In alignment with the 2024-2035 Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education, an impressive range of new courses has been introduced, many focusing on AI and emerging technologies, designed to attract and cultivate talents essential for the nation’s advancement. Research and Innovation: Driving Societal Progress Research remains a vital pillar of EdUHK’s mission. In the past year, our innovative work has garnered global recognition, with the University rising to the third place in education and educational research in the U.S. News and World Report rankings, and achieving 90th worldwide in arts and humanities. Most notably, 54 faculty members were listed among the world’s top 2%most-cited scientists by Stanford University in 2025. Spanning neuroscience, healthcare, sustainability, sport, and educational technologies, our innovations have also been most impactful: reaping a total of 43 international awards. Further, to tackle great challenges of the day, we have formed nine strategic clusters around themes of social science data analytics, environmental toxicology, longevity, social media, career and life development among others, to draw a critical mass of researchers across disciplines to conduct paradigm-changing inquiries and devise solutions. Forging New Frontiers in Global Education Partnerships Collaboration continues to drive EdUHK’s academic excellence and impact on different fronts, with new partnerships formed alongside strengthening ties across the Chinese Mainland, Belt and Road countries and international institutions through alliances, conferences, visits, and exchanges. On the front of Chinese Mainland engagement, our accomplishments were manifold, with us collaborating with China Foreign Affairs University to enhance foreign affairs education and joining hands with Renmin University in fostering national education. We have pushed the envelope in linguistics research through partnering with the Center for Chinese Linguistics at Peking University, and an education forum was held in partnership with Tsinghua University to explore how AI transforms education and learning. Our Belt and Road partnerships achieved significant milestones, including inaugurating the EdUHK–Kazakh Academy and establishing a new regional education institute with Brunei’s Ministry of Education and Universiti Brunei Darussalam. We further developed collaborations in the Middle East through academic capacity building programmes in Saudi Arabia, dual degree programmes and joint research grants with United Arab Emirates University, and two-way summer exchanges with Umm Al-Qura University. 教大始終以正向價值觀教育為核心。為此,我們將國民 教育、國家安全教育、師德師風與價值觀教育融入正式 與非正式的學習活動中。其中,教大首創的「新六藝課 程」,以傳統中國教育為藍本,旨在深化學生對中華文 化的理解,同時傳授實用的生活技能與核心價值觀,全 面提升學生的品格修養與文化素養。 我們高度重視在教育中培養正向道德觀念與社會責任 感。為響應國家的《教育強國建設規劃綱要(2024-2035 年)》,教大推出一系列新課程,聚焦於人工智能與新興 科技,以吸引並培養相關人才,全力支持國家持續發展 與進步。 科研與創新:驅動社會進步 科研是教大其中一個核心使命。在過去一年,我們的 科研成果在國際舞台上獲得廣泛認可。根據《美國新聞 與世界報道》全球最佳大學排名,教大在教育及教育研 究領域躍升至全球第三位,藝術與人文學科則位列第 九十位。此外,教大五十四名學者榮膺二零二五年史丹 福大學全球首2%頂尖科學家。我們的科研團隊在神經 科學、醫療健康、可持續管理、運動及教育科技等多個 領域,贏得了四十三項國際獎項。為應對日益嚴峻的挑 戰,我們設立了九個策略性研究集群,涵蓋社會科學數 據分析、環境毒理學、長壽研究、社交媒體、職業及生 涯發展等領域,匯聚專業人才,開展高品質的多領域研 究,並提出切實可行的解決方案,為社會帶來積極的影 響。 開拓全球教育新藍海 協作是教大追求學術卓越、在各領域持續產生影響的 重要推動力。除了與中國內地、「一帶一路」國家及國 際機構攜手合作外,我們也從多層面深化夥伴關係。在 中國內地方面,我們取得了豐碩的成果,包括與外交學 院展開策略性合作,強化中國外交教育;與中國人民大 學簽訂合作框架協議,促進愛國主義教育;與北京大學 中文語言中心合作,推動語言研究;以及與清華大學共 同舉辦教育論壇,探討人工智能對教育與學習的變革作 用。 我們與「一帶一路」國家的合作亦取得里程碑式的進展, 包括與哈薩克斯坦高等院校共同建立教育研究院,與汶 萊教育部和汶萊大學合作成立區域教育研究院。此外, 我們亦持續加強與中東地區合作夥伴的策略性聯繫,不 僅與阿聯酋大學合作設立雙學位課程,並共同推動科研 資助計劃;同時,亦與沙特阿拉伯烏姆· 庫拉大學合辦 暑期雙向學生交換項目。
