The Education University of Hong Kong Annual Report 2023-2024 8 President’s Overview 校長的話 Well-rounded education with an emphasis on virtues and professional ethics Values education refers to the adoption of positive values and attitudes such as perseverance, respect and care for life, being responsible and understanding national identity. Students must learn and practise such values and attitudes for their own life journey and pass them on to the younger generation. During the reporting year we introduced several initiatives in this light, including two Positive and Values Education courses; the establishment of the EdUHK-QFNU Centre of Professional Ethics for Teachers, in partnership with Qufu Normal University; and the creation of the National Security and Legal Education Research Centre. 以師德與價值觀為核心的全人教育 價值觀教育強調建立學生正面的價值觀和態度,包括堅 毅、尊重生命、關懷行善、責任感及國家認同等品德素 養。我希望學生在生命歷程中學習並踐行這些價值觀與 態度,並將其傳承給下一代。在過去一年,我們推出了 多項相關舉措,包括:開辦兩門正向教育與價值教育課 程;與曲阜師範大學合作成立「香港教育大學 - 曲阜師 範大學師德教育基地」以及創建「國家安全與法律教育 研究中心」。 In terms of intellectual education, our curriculum blends in-depth subject knowledge with a broader societal and advanced technological perspective. Various learning and teaching projects utilising pedagogical approaches suited for an AI-enhanced environment were implemented. The past year saw the launch of a new Cross-faculty Core Course incorporating educational visits to the Greater Bay Area, to the new undergraduate curriculum, and experiential learning courses on entrepreneurship and innovation. The University won 30 prestigious international innovation awards and 49 of our scholars were named in the list of the World’s Top 2% Most-cited Scientists. The University ranked fifth in Asia and 20th in the world in education, according to Quacquarelli Symonds, and we forged a host of exchange partnerships with other institutions in mainland China, Belt and Road countries and beyond, to help broaden our students’ and academics’ knowledge and horizons. 在智性教育方面,教大的課程融合了深入的學科知識、 廣闊的社會視野及先進科技觀點,並推行了多項引入人 工智能元素的教學項目。報告年度內,我們開辦了新的 跨學院核心科目,將粵港澳大灣區考察納入本科課程, 並開設了創業與創新經驗學習課程。此外,教大在國際 創新比賽中共贏得三十項國際創新大獎,另有四十九 位學者入選全球首2%科學家名單。根據QS世界大學學 科排名,教大在教育領域亞洲排名第五,全球位列第 二十。為了進一步拓闊學生及學者的學術及國際視野, 我們與中國內地、「一帶一路」沿線國家及不同地區的 多所院校建立了交流合作夥伴關係。
