In this regard, the University has a role to play in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of our country. This was translated into a number of key initiatives, including the establishment of the GBA Cantonese Opera Development Alliance, with 17 members drawn from academic institutions and organisations. The University also organised a Cantonese Opera teaching competition for local music teachers in 2022, jointly with the Xiqu Centre of the West Kowloon Cultural District. Awards were presented to the primary and the secondary school teachers judged to have the best teaching plans, creativity and effectiveness in teaching.
