香港教育大學 2022-2023 年報 13 Learning and Teaching 學與教 As early as 2020, the University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft Hong Kong to better prepare its prospective teachers with digital and other technological skills. One of the major initiatives was to introduce an AI literacy programme delivered in the form of self-directed learning with resources from the company, and workshops. This momentum was furthered by another MoU signed with Huawei Hong Kong in May 2023 to promote smart teaching on campus. As part of the agreement, an ICT academy was established to help nurture talent for the information and communications technology sector in Hong Kong. The University has also championed the promotion of AI literacy for the education sector and beyond. In 2020, EdUHK launched a three-year project targeting more than 1,000 local university and senior secondary students, with the aim of enhancing their conceptual understanding of AI algorithms and related application and ethical issues. A new phase will be rolled out in September 2023 to extend the reach of the project to teachers and administrative staff in small- and medium-sized enterprises. GBA exposure To enrich students’ learning experience, the University announced in July 2022 the introduction of a cross-faculty core course, part of which will enable undergraduate students to visit other parts of the GBA to deepen their understanding of our country. Starting with the 2023-24 cohort, the course is expected to be extended to over 1,300 undergraduate students each year by 2026-27. As a pilot, a group of 14 selected Bachelor of Education (BEd) students conducted their three-week block practice in schools in the GBA in June 2023, gaining first-hand experience in teaching in the region.
