President’s Overview 校長的話 香港教育大學 2021-2022 年報 9 教大一直積極裝備學生,迎向未來,讓他們在數碼世代 中保持競爭力和社會流動性。二零一六年正名後不久, 教大已開始在課程發展及教師培訓方面,引進運算思維 及科學、科技、工程和數學教育,以期把學生由單純的 科技消費者,變成科技應用和解難者。這方面的工作已 漸見成果。目前,逾三分一本地小學在校內教授編程, 教育局亦計劃於全港小學採用及參考本校設計的課程。 知識轉移及創新 本校於二零一六年成立知識轉移辦公室,於本地以至全 球促進和推動教大學者的學術成果。自二零一八年起, 教大已取得逾七十個享譽國際的創新獎項。為培養學生 和畢業生的創業精神,我們已培訓近一百支創業團隊, 當中更有二十支隊伍獲得資助。部分教大創新發明已授 權業界使用,涵蓋教育科技、教育學習玩具和醫療科技 等。然而,我們不會只停留於起步階段,正籌劃更多新 舉措,善用科技,結合教育。 teaching and self-learning. These efforts have been well received, in terms of the number of beneficiaries and impact. The animated series on Chinese historical figures from different eras, for example, has so far received an accumulated viewership of over eight million, reaching local, overseas Chinese and non-Chinese speaking students. Another animated series on Chinese language and culture learning has been viewed around two million times, over a three-year period. We have also advocated the importance of equipping students to be future ready, in the face of the digital era, to enhance their competitiveness and enable social mobility. In 2016, shortly after retitling, the University sowed the seeds of computational thinking and STEM into curriculum development and teacher training to empower students to move beyond mere technology consumption into problem-solving. This has borne fruit with over a third of local primary schools now teaching coding, and I am pleased to learn of the Education Bureau’s plan to adopt and adapt our curricular materials in all primary schools. Knowledge transfer and innovation Also in 2016, the Knowledge Transfer Sub-office was established to facilitate and drive the dissemination of our expertise, locally and globally. This has culminated into over 70 prestigious international innovation awards since 2018. To incubate and nurture an entrepreneurial spirit in students and graduates, we have trained nearly 100 start-up teams, 20 of which have been funded. Some of our innovations, covering education technology, education toys and healthcare technology, have been licensed. This is only the beginning, with more initiatives in the pipeline to better integrate technology into education.
