President’s Overview 校長的話 The Education University of Hong Kong Annual Report 2021-2022 8 Cambodian university teachers pursuing doctoral degrees at EdUHK as part of a World Bank project 來自柬埔寨的大學教師獲世界銀行資助,在教大修讀博士課程 International standing I ampleased to note that, for eight consecutive years, EdUHK has been ranked among the top three in Asia and the top 20 in the world in education, according to the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. We made great strides in the latest Research Assessment Exercise conducted by the University Grants Committee (UGC), with an increasing proportion of our research output judged as “World Leading” or “Internationally Excellent”. Our scholars are also among the Top 2%Most-cited Scientists in a list compiled by Stanford University. Over the years, we have extended our global footprint by forging partnerships with over 200 universities and institutions in 39 different countries and places in the formof faculty and student exchange, joint research and dual degree programme offerings. Our sustained partnerships with the World Bank, UNESCO, UNESCO-UNEVOC and other international organisations have been translated into impactful projects in teacher education, green skills training and promotion of peace. It has been particularly encouraging to witness the launch of twoWorld Bank-funded projects to build higher-education capacity in Vietnamand Cambodia. This year, we welcomed the first batch of Cambodian university teachers to our Doctor of Education programme, who will serve as key personnel to drive quality enhancement in higher education in their home country. Bridging gaps Locally, we are concerned about the widening learning gap between students from different social strata, which has become even more acute since the pandemic outbreak. Among the hardest hit groups are the underprivileged and students with special educational needs. The University has devoted considerable effort and resources to develop quality and engaging learning materials, designed for both classroom 國際地位 根據QS世界大學學科排名,教大已連續八年在教育領 域名列亞洲三甲,並躋身全球前二十位,成績令人鼓 舞。在大學教育資助委員會(教資會)最新研究評審工作 中,教大有更多研究項目獲評為「世界領先」或「國際卓 越」,足證本校的研究實力不斷躍升。此外,教大學者 亦躋身史丹福大學按學術文獻引用次數而編撰的全球首 2%科學家名單。 過去多年,教大與逾二百所大學及機構(來自三十九個 國家或地區)建立夥伴關係,藉著師生交流、研究合作 和開辦雙學位課程等形式,擴大我們在海外的影響力。 此外,本校與世界銀行、聯合國教科文組織、聯合國教 科文組織國際職業技術教育與培訓中心,以及其他國際 組織的持續夥伴協作,亦已轉化為具影響力的教師教 育、綠色技能培訓和促進和平等項目。教大在其中兩個 獲世界銀行資助的項目中,協助越南和柬埔寨學界提升 高等教育水平,別具意義。今年,教大更迎來第一批來 自柬埔寨的教育博士生。他們畢業回國後,將努力促進 當地高等教育學與教的質素。 Primary school students demonstrating their creativity, computational thinking and coding skills at an annual CoolThink competition 小學生於每年舉辦的運算思維比賽中展現他們的創意、運算思 維及編程技巧 收窄差距 本地教育方面,教大十分關注來自不同社會階層學童的 學習差距。疫情期間,這種差距更形顯著,對弱勢社群 和有特殊教育需要的學生影響尤深。因此,教大投放不 少資源研發教材,以愉快學習為基礎,兼顧課堂教學及 自我學習。從受惠人數及影響力而言,以「看動畫•學 歷史」為例,目前累計的點擊已逾八百萬,惠及本地、 海外華人及非華語學生。而另一個與中國語言和文化學 習相關的動畫系列,三年內累計的瀏覽量亦有近二百萬 人次。
