The China Quarterly awarded the Gordon White Prize 2014 to Dr. Brian Fong Chi-hang
The Gordon White Prize is awarded annually for the most original article by a scholar who has not published in the China Quarterly before. The magazine announced that the Gordon White Prize 2014 was awarded to Dr. Brian Fong Chi-hang, Assistant Professor with the Department of Asian and Policy Studies (APS) at The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd).
His article entitled “The Partnership Between the Chinese Government and Hong Kong’s Capitalist Class: Implications for HKSAR Governance, 1997-2012” (No. 217, March 2014, pp. 195-220) was praised by one of the judges as “an incredibly timely piece…also a truly impressive research effort and the tables indicate that the data were all collected and assembled by the author, which represents a massive original data collection effort in my view.”
