At first, I have no idea what I want to pursue. The reason I chose Public Policy is only that it sounds professional. During my undergraduate studies, I’ve got my initial career planning, being a civil servant, and working hard to prepare for the National Civil Service Examination. But in the first semester of the fourth year, I got the Postgraduate Recommendation, and I will pursue an MPhil in the South China University of Technology. In my MPhil period, I realized that I love to share my opinions with others. I was one of the core members of the debate team, and I have won the best debater. One of the judges from the School of Law encouraged me to pursue a PhD. It comes to my mind to be a lecturer later on.
I was recommended by a Professor to work as a research staff in the Center of Greater China Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong. I can have time to prepare for my PhD application. The experiences working and pursuing PhD here enable me to read different literature from overseas. This provided me with a global perspective in studying the issues in China, as well as opportunities to publish journal articles in different SSCI journals.
Finally, thanks to my supervisor, Dr Alex He Jingwei’s support, his proficiency in English writing impressed me a lot. It cost me a lot of time in writing English, but my writing skill has improved a lot under his supervision.
