Tommy Chung-yin Kwan is a Lecturer with the Department of Asian and Policy Studies (APS) of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). He is also a PhD candidate in the Department of Politics and International Studies at SOAS, University of London, currently focusing on the relationship between political parties and social movements in Taiwan. He used to be a Resident Fellow at University of Tübingen in Germany, and a visiting associate at the Academia Sinica in Taiwan. He received his MSc in Politics of China from SOAS, University of London.

Mr. Kwan is also a writer in Hong Kong and a regular contributor of Ming Pao. He comments on Hong Kong and Taiwan’s political and cultural scenes. His recent books Learnings from Solitude and Old World in a New Day (both published by the China Times Publishing) are anthology of essays.
