Department of Asian and Policy Studies
The Department of Asian and Policy Studies (APS) is a teaching and research intensive Department that prides itself on policy driven research and training Asia’s next generation of change makers. The Department’s faculty are engaged in research and teaching addressing education, health, ageing, housing, urban and social policy, governance and comparative political economy. The Department offers degree programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
To further enhance its teaching strengths the Department of Asian and Policy Studies invites applications for a full-time Lecturer II position with a specialisation in one or more of the following areas: (i) communication; (ii) public organisation and leadership; (iii) public organisation and human
resource management; and (iv) research methods; and (v) social policy and non-profit organisation management.
The appointee will participate in activities related to teaching, project supervision, curriculum and programme development, together with programme and course management at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. He/she is expected to be an active scholar committed to pedagogical
innovation, the development of teaching techniques to assist students with learning difficulties, and to actively contribute to the whole-person development of students through active mentorship.
Applicants should provide evidence of past and current teaching accomplishments and a statement of teaching and research interests.
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree, preferably a Doctoral Degree in a relevant discipline with a strong record of accomplishment or be able to demonstrate strong research potential for recent graduates. Applicants should also have post-qualification teaching experience in the tertiary education sector. They should preferably possess a relevant professional teaching certificate e.g.
PGDE or qualification of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognized by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong or other qualification of equivalence.
