HKIEd Study: Poverty of Ethnic Minority Children in Hong Kong

2015 December

Dr. Kelvin Cheung Chi-kin, Associate Head and Assistant Professor of the Department of Asian and Policy Studies (APS) at The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) and Principal Investigator conducted a research that revealed families from South Asian, Other Asian and Other Racial groups have experienced an increase in poverty rates between 2001 and 2011, whereas Chinese families have experienced a decrease in poverty rates for the same periods. The research was funded by the Central Policy Unit of the HKSAR Government’s Public Policy Research Funding Scheme.
