Congratulations to Ms. TU Jiaxin, our second-year Doctor of Education programme (APS) student, who has recently been awarded the Best Speaker in recognition of her outstanding presentations at the Faculty Postgraduate Seminar (FPS) on 23 November 2022. Her research topic is” Explaining the Implementation of Education Policy Reforms in China with a City Perspective: A Mixed Methods.” Let’s hear what she says!
I am Jessie TU from the APS, and this is my second year as an EdD student. I’m now working on a project about basic education reform in China. This is the first independent research project in my life. I didn’t have a strong study background in this, so I felt nervous and confused at the beginning. But fortunately, I received a lot of professional advice from my supervisor and many kinds of encouragement from all the teachers and classmates around. All of these definitely bring me great courage to arrange and enjoy my research. For this award, I am so surprised! I heard that this was the first time inviting us EdD students, the other speakers are PhDs, and most of them are native speakers of English. I was not confident enough about my oral English. But I did it! This award encourages me to be braver in facing the possible challenges in my research project. I really want to express my thanks to my supervisor nominated me to attend this seminar which was a good chance to train my skills and learn from the other outstanding students.
