Dr Kris Hartley published new co-authored chapter in an edited volume for Edward Elgar Publishers

June 2021

Dr. Kris Hartley, Assistant Professor at APS, has published a new co-authored chapter in an edited volume for Edward Elgar Publishers. The chapter, entitled “Disaster risk reduction and the development narrative: towards a new public policy epistemic,” interrogates the epistemic foundations of public policy as a practiced and studied discipline, exploring how wicked problems like disaster risk are refracted though the kaleidoscope of socio-political context. The chapter suggests a pathway for policy sciences scholarship that examines how dominant social or economic paradigms underlying policy thinking survive through multiple narrative reframings.
