Call for Papers – APISA 8 Annual Congress 2014 An Agenda for Asia: Human Security, Conflict Management, Sector Reform and Local Democratization
APISA 8 at ISEAA seeks to contribute to scholarship about Asia, encompassing interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research, especially with regards to issues of identity, economics, food, environment, health, education, security, peace, gender and minority rights and democracy. We welcome panels and papers which reflect these objectives. One principal goal is to produce theoretically-informed analyses of single and/or comparative case studies about Asia. Another is to showcase novel perspectives to current issues and themes pertaining to Asia. Themes of the Conference – Human Security Issues – Conflict Management – Security Sector Reform – Local Democratization – Social Movements in Modern and Contemporary Asia – Citizen Engagement and Political Participation in Modern and Contemporary Asia – Organized Interest Representation, Nongovernmental Organizations and Civil Society in Asia – Formal Representation, Party Politics and Electoral Systems – Delberative Democracy and Participatory Politics – Different Forms of Resistance in Asian Societies – Communities at the Margins – Politics of Internal Migration – International Migration, Transnationalization of Migration and Diaspora Politics – Transnational Issues, Environmental Politics and Energy Politics.
