Beijing Steps Up Centralisation of Power to Control Provincial Leaders
Regarding to the case that Beijing centralizes its power to control the local government in different provinces, Dr. Wu Muluan Alfred, lecturer in the Department of Asian and Policy Studies of The Hong Kong Institute of Education, said the situation began in the past, but it had become more common in recent years. This practice was believed to continue in the future for more than a decade. Dr. Wu also commented that the President Xi jinping was not the first one who centralized power to control provincial officials. And the restructuring of governors was not directly related to Xi.
