Abstract

When students come from junior into senior secondary school, they often setback in studying physics. Through analysis of the knowledge configuration, there is a large span in its subject depth, difficulty and subject breadth on transition from junior to senior forms. It is known that the students' learning ability not only lies on their intelligence but also is affected by their non-intelligence complication. For studying physics in senior secondary school, it is evident that there is a high demand in their abstract thinking, logic deduction and mathematical skills for knowledge analysis and problem-solving. If the students cannot acclimatize themselves to this change, mental obstacle in physics studying is to come forth. Through the research by a questionnaire survey, it is found that there are several kinds of mental obstacle existing in the first year of senior secondary school students' physics studying.
