Abstract

The publication "Science Investigations in Hong Kong Primary Schools - Theory and Practice" provides theoretical discussions on science investigations, as well as examples and illustrations of science investigations conducted by Hong Kong primary school pupils. The publication starts with the theoretical discussions which include a review of the place and purpose of investigations in Hong Kong primary curriculum; a guide to the investigation process and ways to help pupils to plan a science investigation. The second section has six examples of pupils' work on investigations, which includes the design of a mechanical white board; ways to make flowers change colour; making home-made glue; finding out the centripetal force; ways to trap the ice; and which chair can carry the heaviest.
