2026-04-28

The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC) and the Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL) successfully held a seminar on 27 April 2026, titled "From Single-Country Models to Global Evidence: Advanced Analytical Strategies for International Large-Scale Assessments."

The seminar was delivered by Dr. Nurullah Eryilmaz from the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) and Leuphana University, Germany. Drawing on concrete examples from TIMSS and TALIS, Dr. Eryilmaz introduced advanced analytical strategies including multilevel modeling and meta-analytic synthesis of country-specific results. He demonstrated how these approaches enhance cross-national comparability, statistical robustness, and generalizability—offering significant advantages over traditional single-country models. The talk concluded with practical implications for studying educational inequality and advancing methodological rigor in comparative education research within increasingly complex, data-rich environments.

The seminar was well-attended by faculty, doctoral students, and policy researchers, underscoring APCLC and EPL's commitment to connecting advanced quantitative methods with impactful educational policy and leadership research. APCLC and EPL thank Dr. Eryilmaz for his insightful presentation and look forward to future collaborations.
