APCLC Postgraduate Programme -
Executive MA – International Educational Leadership and Change (IELC)

The Executive Master of Arts in International Educational Leadership and Change (IELC) meets the learning needs of aspiring and practising leaders. The IELC is the first online and most “international” programme at the Education University of Hong Kong, and the preeminent degree focused on school leadership in the Asia Pacific region.

The IELC is now approaching its tenth year. Participants have included leaders in schools worldwide, including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and the United States.

Since 2013, the IELC has been formally recognised by the International Baccalaureate (IB). IELC participants have the option of attaining two IB certificates: IB certificate in leadership practice and IB advanced certificate in leadership research. In 2016, the Ontario Principals’ Council and its subsidiary, International School Leadership, recognised the IELC as a postgraduate pathway for its certificate, permitting credit transfer into the IELC. From 2021, the IELC will be recognised by Cambridge Assessment International Education (hereafter, Cambridge) to offer two leadership professional development qualifications: Cambridge certificate and diploma in educational leadership. The Education University of Hong Kong will be the first university in the world to offer the Cambridge leadership professional development qualifications as part of the IELC.
