Handbook Wins Inaugural Taylor & Francis Prize

The Routledge International Handbook of Schools and Schooling in Asia has been awarded the inaugural Taylor & Francis Prize for the Outstanding Handbook in Behavioural Sciences and Education for 2018. APCLC Directors & Associate Director (Prof. Allan Walker, Dr. Qian Haiyan and Dr. Darren Bryant), APCLC Research Fellows (Prof. Megdalenda Mok, Prof. Philip Hallinger, Prof. Edmund Law, Dr. Choi Taehee, Dr. Theresa Alviar-Martin, Dr. Truong Dinh Thang and President Gian Tu Trung), APCLC School Based Network Leaders and APCLC Scholar Practitioner Fellows (Dr. Ed Wickins and Mr. Arnett Edwards) together with lots of EdUHK colleagues and APCLC research collaborators in fellow regional/ international educational organizations (e.g. International Baccalaureate [IB], Institute of Research of Educational Development [IRED]) are contributing authors of the Handbook.

The Handbook displays the current state of the scholarship for schools and schooling in Asia including emerging, controversial and cutting-edge contributions using a thematic approach. The content offers a broad sweep of the region with a focus on theoretical, cultural and political issues as well as identifying educational issues and priorities, such as curriculum, assessment, teacher education, school leadership, etc., all of which impact students and learning in multiple ways. It brings together experts in curriculum, learning and assessment, private supplementary tutoring, special education, gender issues, ethnic minority education and LGBTQI students in Asian schools, providing a multidimensional and rich view of the issues confronting the region’s school and education systems.
