After graduating from EdUHK with a degree in Psychology, Bella Li is now studying an MEd at Columbia University.

She now hopes to become an educational psychologist, able to support children, families and schools.

“The intense practicum and fieldwork I've done here at Columbia have meant a lot to me. It has really challenged my problem solving skills as we handle really complicated situations. At the same time, it has polished my interpersonal skills as we need to build rapport with every party.” Bella said.

“When one of my students told me that I am his favourite counsellor, I felt so rewarding to be trusted. When I saw students who changed their misbehaviors, I was happy that my behavioral modification plan had worked. When I saw struggling families giving their children effective support based on my psychoeducational evaluation, I knew that my hard work paid off” she added.

Throughout Bella's journey, from high school to master's student, EdUHK has been there to support, encourage and push her further:

Dr Hou Wai Kai introduced EdUHK’s Psychology programme to Bella when she was a high school student in the mainland.

Professor Wing Wong encouraged Bella to believe in herself. “She was so encouraging and supportive" Bella said.

Prof Rebecca Cheung introduced Bella to the field of Educational psychology. “ The knowledge she taught me and the inspiration she gave me laid a solid foundation for me to explore further in the field.” Bella added.

Bella is now looking forward to beginning her professional practice after her internship year.

As Bella's journey illustrates, we strive to encourage students in everything that they do – from high school to postgraduate study. By giving our students the skills and support they need to succeed we seek to raise their lives to the NEXT LEVEL.
