As part of its international outreach, the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) used the 2017 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting to launch a recruitment exercise, to invite international researchers to a reception hosted by the Faculty and to select from over 2,500 conference sessions. The conference was held in San Antonio, Texas from 27 April until 1 May.
AERA is the largest international meeting of educational researchers. Over 15,000 academics from different parts of the United States, as well as different parts of the world, gathered in San Antonio. Some of our colleagues and students from both FEHD and Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS) presented papers at the conference, held international annual meetings related to refereed journals and connected with fellow researchers and education leaders. Taking this opportunity for staff recruitment, interviews were conducted with international scholars from more than 20 countries.
The highlight of the conference for the FEHD team was the reception held on 29 April. Over 300 scholars and leaders from more than 145 universities, international organizations and publishers from 25 countries attended. The reception celebrated EdUHK’s becoming the first education university in Hong Kong and its success in the QS World University Rankings for the subject Education, 2nd in Asia and 13th in the world for Education.
