Module Code 單元編號 LVE6012 Module Title 單元名稱 WHOLE SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP IN LIFE AND VALUES EDUCATION Module Synopsis 單元概要 This course focuses on the key role of school leaders in developing a whole-school environment that nurtures whole-person development in life and values education. It reviews diverse leadership theories from servant leadership, as espoused by Robert Greenleaf; spiritual leadership led by Louis Fry; and more recently, values-based leadership, and positive leadership. These holistic approaches to leadership resonate with workplace spirituality. This promotes the experience of transcendence and meaningfulness in and through one’s work, thereby leading to commitment. Servant and values-based leadership will be compared and contrasted with leadership philosophies in Asian contexts including Confucian role ethics. Students are encouraged to reflect on their personal and institutional leadership philosophies in the light of evolving multicultural and multi-stakeholder contexts.
