Language is a complex communicative system that comes in different media (spoken, written or signed) and changes from time to time. Building modern tools to handle language-related tasks is more than just compiling a dictionary and a grammar. The course reviews the basics of corpus linguistics, explores the intricacies behind the digitalisation of language, introduces data-handling tools and automation techniques, and provides hands-on experience in turning language information into a digitalised and machine-readable form.
