The course introduces the tools and technologies that assist the work of translators and interpreters to students. This course assumes basic knowledge of linguistics and general proficiencies in English and Chinese, but no background in translation, advanced mathematics, or prior knowledge in programming. Students will learn to handle some translation tasks with the help of these tools and technologies. Corpus-analysis tools, terminology-management systems, translation memory systems and editing skills of machine-translated texts will also be introduced in the course.
