CENTRE FOR LANGUAGE IN EDUCATION

Creative Writing Contest 2018-19

Dear students,

Would you like to show your creative minds and share about yourself through English writing?

The Centre for Language in Education (CLE) is pleased to announce the Creative Writing Contest 2018-2019. It is open to all students of the University. If you enjoy writing and would love your work to be published, then this may be the chance to achieve your goal! No matter how much (or how little!) writing experience you have, please take this chance to try something new by sharing your writing with us. This year’s writing theme is:

 Dreams and Reality

The contest opens on Monday October 15th, 2018 and closes on Friday, January 11th, 2019 by midnight.

Prizes will be awarded to winners and winning submissions will be published in our IT Magazine.

Your submission to the Creative Writing Contest will be counted as an E-portfolio or ILA task of the English Enhancement Courses of CLE if applicable.

Here are a few contest guidelines:

  • Your piece of writing should be 700 words max. If writing a poem, your entry should have a minimum of 12 lines.
  • Your paper must be written in English.
  • All submissions will be reviewed anonymously and evaluated for: relevance to the theme, content, insight, originality, and voice
  • You must sign a plagiarism declaration sheet attesting that the work you submitted is your own
  • Winners will be announced in March 2019
  • All winners will have the opportunity to read and share their work at the Award Ceremony. All are welcomed to attend.
