Announcing the winners of the Bookmark and Notebook Cover Design Contest

The Centre for Language in Education (CLE) is pleased to announce that Chan Jian Liu and Chan Yin Yu are the winners of the Bookmark and Notebook Cover Design Contest. The aim of this activity was to come up with a creative and eye-catching bookmark and notebook cover design for the Arthur Samy Language Learning Centre (ASLLC) of CLE, along with a creative short write-up reasoning their artwork.

On our Facebook fan page students got a chance to vote for the two best designs through a poll. The ones with the most “likes” won the contest. Throughout the contest a large number of interesting and inspiring visual interpretations of language in education was submitted. Among all the designs we selected one best piece for each category. 

The bookmark design of Chan Jian Liu is to "integrate space with earth, which represents the integration of reality and imagination. The hot-air balloons show the movement of our imagination generated by reading, slow yet steady".

The notebook cover design of Chan Yin Yu is about being an explorer. "As we are all language learners, we should have a positive attitude towards exploring and learning. We should be curious and eager to learn and explore new things by looking through a telescope, which symbolizes new discoveries and the journey of learning.
