A Comparative Study of the Biliterate Writing Proficiency of the Chinese and English Writing Processes of Hong Kong Language Student Teachers

 

This study compares the first (Chinese) and second (English) language composing processes of student teachers, focusing on the relation of their biliterate writing proficiency and their language awareness of begin the future potential language educators. Six student teachers' think-aloud protocols and their written texts will be analyzed, supplemented by the interviews about their language and writing history and the cognitive strategies employed during their composing. With the understanding of these relationship, long range implications can be drawn from the student teachers' knowledge and language awareness in view of the Government's aspiration of having an "all graduate, all trained" teacher profession for the study of educational theory and practice, the language policy issues in Hong Kong, and to further develop and implement teacher education programmes that incorporate principles of best practice in ways appropriate to Hong Kong's unique educational context.

A Computer Assisted Learning Tool: A Cross Reference on Initials, finals and Tones Based on the Commonly Used Chinese Characters Found in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong 中台港常用字聲韻調交互對電腦輔助學習工具

 

本研究計劃把《中港台常用字廣州話普通話聲韻調對應關係研究》(何國祥,2002)資料電腦網絡化。電腦網絡化後產品不但方便使用者查檢有關對應資料,更配合媒體設計,令學與教能通過語音直接展示,令普通話與廣州話的學習效果更為有效。

A Longitudinal Study on the Vocabulary Production of the Hong Kong Primary School Pupils

 

This research aims to investigate the change of the Hong Kong primary school pupils' vocabulary production. This is a longitudinal study and qualitative analysis has been used to complement the quantitative results. The results of the study offer significant insights to the acquisition of vocabulary in Hong Kong school pupils' language development.

A Study of "Mengshu" (Textbooks for Beginning Students) in Chinese History

中國歷代蒙書及蒙學研究

 

我們這個計劃包括下面幾個項目:

一、 搜集及整理啟蒙教育資料:關於歷代蒙書的搜集工作,學者在過去二、三十年已取得若干成果,我們將在前人的基礎上,作適當的增補,並修正其中錯漏。此外,我們還將整理出歷代蒙書的研究文獻。

二、 介紹蒙書及教學筆記:所收書目每項俱附簡介,簡介內容包括:1. 書籍的內容;2. 書籍的時代;3. 歷代的評價;4. 優點和缺點。

三、  梳理中國啟蒙教育思想及發展:從蒙書看中國啟蒙教育的哲學和其中的變遷發展。

A Study of the Basic Chinese Language Competency of Hong Kong Primary and Secondary Students

香港中小學生中文基本能力水平及評估指標研究

 

「香港中小學生中文基本能力水平及評估指標研究」是一項香港優質教育基金資助的研究計劃,主要是針對目前香港欠缺一套涵蓋整個中、小學階段的中文基本能力架構和能力指標的情況,通過廣泛參考有關文獻和資料搜集,初步訂出各學習階段的學生應該達至的中文基本能力水平指標,供教育界及其他社會人士參照。研究主要分兩部分:一是中外各地有關母語基本能力的課程文件和文獻的比較分析,二是文獻資料作基礎,發展一套包括4個學習階段的中文基本能力指標的問卷,取樣向全港的中、小學教師派發,調查他們對這些指標的意見。所得結果,可以作為香港各學習階段中文基本能力指標的參考。

A Study of the Openings and Endings in High Tang Poetry

 

This study investigates the patterns of literature with regard to the openings and endings of High Tang Poetry. It can be illustrated by: 1) The plots of traditional Chinese novels, such as The Dream of Red Chambers (Hongloumeng 紅樓夢) and The Outlaws of the Marsh (shuihuzhuan 水滸傳), normally starts at the very beginning of the world; 2) The plots of children's stories usually end at the nuptial rites. Origination of the Plan: Studies on the openings and endings have interested some scholars: 1) A volume edited by Makoto Ueda and Mitsuichi Yamanaka, entitled The Aesthetic of Endings: A Study of the Endings of Japanese Literature was published in 1990, it originated from a joint project by Japanese and American scholars during 1986-1989; 2) Dr. Ye Yang, a mainland Chinese scholar who earned his Ph.D. degree at Harvard University, has published his dissertation in 1996. The Proposed Project has two folds - data collection and research work: 1) Collects relevant discourses that appears in Chinese shihua, cihua, and other anthologies of literary criticism; 2) Collects and prepares synopses for relevant analytical works by Japanese and Western sinologists on the structure of literature; 3) To publish outcomes of our research work in refereed international journals at different stage. All research materials and research papers will then be presented in book form.

A Study on "Xinmaio", the Literary Page of the Chinese Student Weekly

《中國學生周報》 「新苗」版研究

 

本研究以發表在《中國學生周報》「新苗」的作品為研究對象。《中國學生周報》有不少的文學版像「拓墾」、「種籽」、「新苗」、「穗華」與「詩之頁」等,而當年在這些文學版發青作品的年輕作者,現今都成了香港文學的表表者。《中國學生周報》刊行二十二載,期間「拓墾」園地,讓「種籽」破土而為「新苗」。並在文學花園裹開出「穗華」,展示出了「詩之頁」,為香港文學增添花木。因此,在指導青年向上,提攜扶翼後進,《中國學生周報》有香港文學「搖籃」之稱,是一份影響深遠的刊物。在「新苗」發表作品的大多是較年輕的作者,但觀其成長,終為香港文學的代表,其中也有探討的價值,尤其在作家作品的轉化成熟,「少作」往往展示了「成家」歷程中的重要里程與根據。本研究是「《中國學生周報》文藝版研究(1952-1974)」的試行計劃,旨在蒐集發表於「新苗」的作品,追蹤「香港作家」早期創作的實績,並嘗試探討本土年輕作者的創作特色。

An Investigation of the Lexical Difference between Putonghua and Cantonese

粵普形同義異詞、形同義近詞、方源詞及異序詞的批量整理

 

根據學者的田野調查結果顯示粵語和普通話在詞匯之間的差異是非常大的,香港由於缺乏普通話的語言環境,學生學習語文和普通話的時候也常常遇到不能正確地使用普通話詞語的問題。由於粵語和普通話大量詞語都同樣源自古代漢語,因此有一部分的詞彼此有某種相似性,也有某種程度的差異。本研究利用《現代漢語詞典》(國家的規範詞典)的詞條跟粵語相比,找出彼此相似但不完全相同的詞,供教師、學生及文字工作者參考使用。本研究的最終目的提升方言區的人使用普通話詞語的能力。

Creative Teaching Campaign for Primary Teachers of Hong Kong

創意教學推廣計劃(小學)

 

This project aims at encouraging and enhancing teacher creativity in all primary schools and in HKIEd through publications, competitions, seminar, workshops, sharing and other activities. In the campaign, teachers encourage and stimulate each others' creativity through sharing. From the competition, two valuable products will be obtained, namely, creative teaching ideas and the creative teacher role models. These role models will receive further training, and continue to disseminate the ideas to other teachers. Parallel with the above activities, a medium-scale research will be carried out to support our publications.

Development Project on Research-based Modular Learning and Teaching Materials on Children Literature for Primary Chinese Language 以研究為基礎的小學兒童文學單元教學材料發展計劃

 

本研究期以開發中港台三地現代的兒童文學作品,編選切合香港小學生能力興趣的文本,就其特色組合,設計教學單元予前線教師施學,還能為教師教學提供學科及專業支援,促進教學的專業發展。本研究探討有關課程推行方法、學習載體的開拓與應用,以及教師專業發展等問題,師資培圳者可藉本研究的成果增進對兒童文學教學與課程實施方面的了解,對修訂及建構職前與在職師資培訓課程具有參考價值。參與本研究的小學有三所,試行學校的教師會據研究員發展的單元施教,而研究員則以教師教學為主要研究樣本,學生學習成果為輔助研究樣本,用以旁証教與學的成效。本研究包括文本分析(content analysis)、工作坊(seminar)、半結構式晤談(semi-structured interview)與教室觀察法(observation)等方法,再以Shulman 的「教學推理與行動過程」為分析架構,探討教師如何以多元多樣的兒童文學作品為學習材料,引發學生學習的興趣,期以提高學與教的功效。

It attempts to enhance the creativity and writing skills of primary students. Teaching materials, including mulit-media learning packages will be designed, tried out and refined in actual classroom situation. Staff development programmes for primary school teachers will be organized. The final products would include a curriculum on the teaching of Chinese writing, a learning package on the teaching of writing, and a CD-Rom of multi-media resources on the teaching of Chinese writing.

Interface Project for Promoting Creativity in Teaching

 

A total of 83 schools and 92 teachers joined the Creative Teacher Day. 53 teachers have submitted their Teaching Idea Competition. 41 participating teachers and 6 lecturers in HKIEd served as judges in the Creative Teaching Ideas Competition. 66 teachers in 46 schools had submitted their plan for school-based sharing, and up till March, 50 teachers in 32 schools have submitted their evaluative reports.

Interviews with the Hong Kong Writers 香港作家訪談整理

 

香港作家的文學成就越來越受到重視。課程發展處提供給中學老師選用的600篇教材,有不少香港當代作家的作品;另外,預科中國文學新課程,也列出了一些香港作家的著作,要求學生閱讀。本校B.Ed(P)B.Ed(L)的課程中,都有香港文學單元,學生須研習香港作家的作品,為將來的教學作準備。

 

是次研究,通過訪問香港當代作家,如黃仁逵、飲江(他們都得過香港文學界極高榮譽的「中文文學雙年獎」)等,以了解他們的創作觀念、某些作品的創作背景,得到的資料有助本校學生研讀他們的作品,也有助中學老師教學,並為香港文學的研究者提供作家研究資料。

Reforming the Curriculum: The Implementation of Curriculum Integration in the Primary Schools in Hong Kong

 

The study aims to describe and analyze the process of how curriculum integration will be implemented in the primary schools in Hong Kong. Two primary schools adopting curriculum integration would be chosen and invited to participate in the study. The research design of the study is a multiple-cased one, focusing on the implementation process of curriculum integration in the primary schools. Research methodologies include interviews, observations and documentary analysis in order to triangulate the data collected. The results of the study will shed light in three areas, i.e., the literature of curriculum change, the teachers' professional development in the upheaval of change and finally the government policy making in relation to curriculum change in Hong Kong.

Repetition and Children's Songs of Hong Kong “反復與香港兒歌

 

語文的學習須配合內容有意義的情境。對小學生來說,內容親切有趣的兒童文學作品都可以他帶引他們進入語文的世界,香港不少活潑有趣的流行兒歌的內容都帶茪敺ワM文化 的色彩,而且歌詞中又靈活地運用了各種修辭格。在各種修辭方法中,"反復" 是常用而又容易掌握的一種,小學生掌握了 "反復" 的手法,可以更深刻地體味兒歌的內容、韻律和意象,也可以從中學習運用 "反復" 以增強表情達意的效果。本研究檢視約60首香港兒歌,以瞭解:

1. 兒歌歌辭所運用的 "反復"

2. 兒歌內容與 "反復" 的關係。

Student Interactions in an Online Discussion Forum Analyzing Messages to Determine Level of Engagement and Interactivity

 

This project analyses the discussion group messages over one semester in five subjects offered at HKIEd. The analysis will examine the change in ideas from the initial stages of the semester to the final stages of the subject. An adapted model by Henri (1992) will be used to analyze the discussion messages. This model has five dimensions including participative, interactive, social, cognitive and metacognitive dimensions. The aim of the analysis is to determine the types of interactivity displayed by students online. This analysis should provide an insight into teaching and learning online at HKIEd. The study should also provide recommendations for the development of an e-moderation guide for academic staff who may wish to utilize discussion groups as part of their subject.

The Changing Role of Women through the Study of Modern Literature in China in the 1930s and 40s

中國三十和四十年代都市小說中女性形象轉變的研究

 

It adopts the qualitative research approach and focuses on the role of women. It examines the fictions in Shanghai in the 1930s and 40s to find out the relationship between the role of women and the development of society. A literature search on the works of writers in Shanghai will be conducted. Psychological and metropolitan theories will be utilized for analysis. It is hoped that the characteristics of women as depicted in the works of the writers can be identified and its changing roles in the transformation of the city be analyzed. With the help of the questionnaire, an attempt is made to study the attitude of teachers to gender role with a view to promoting better awareness and critical reflection.

The Collection of Criticism on Chun Wai Man's Poetry 鍾偉民詩歌評論資料搜集及整理

 

鍾偉民是香港八十年代前期被評率最高的年輕詩人,當時有論者謂「香港詩論共一石,鍾偉民獨得八斗」,更提出「鍾偉民現象」一詞。本研究集中搜集八十年代評論鍾偉民詩作的文章,加以整理,有助香港文學研究者了解八十年代香港詩壇的現象,以及得到有系統的史料從事香港新詩研究。

The Trilingual/Biliterate Abilities of Language Teachers in Language Education: An Investigation on the Attitudes of Student Teachers 從語文教育看語文老師「兩文三語」的能力:初探語文師訓生的態度和觀感

 

無數研究結果都顯示人們的語言影響茈L的思維,從而影響他各種的表達方式和能力;同時,各種語言之間存在著的「正遷移」又絕對大過「負遷移」,因此多語訓練的成效是無容置疑的。本研究就希望針對香港目前特殊的語言環境和語言政策,透過「多個案研究」訪問本院「語文教育學士師訓課程」學生,包括中、英主修生,透過晤談,利用刺激回憶等方法協助研究員較深入地認識和瞭解受試者的語言學習經驗和他對多語學習在教學上的看法,探討他們對「兩文三語」學習的瞭解、對主修語言,旁及其他語言等在教學應用上的看法和態度。無論教改或教學工作者可以藉此更準確地瞭解多語學習的問題和需要,從而幫助我們在制定語言教學、師資培訓,或者是對教育語言政策方面會有更具體的參考。

袁枚詩以神韻見稱,很可惜他的作品自清以來,一直不太為人重視,註釋及選本很少,本計劃是整個計劃的第一步,嘗試從袁枚的絕詩入手,選出百多首有代表性的作品來做註,選了作品,定了要註釋的詞後,再把作品輸入電腦儲存,作為日後研究之用。

《全球化語境下的中國文學》

 

全球化時代對中國文學的理論、方法和教學研究提出了新的課題。由我校語文教育學院和中文系聯合舉辦的第二屆亞太地中文教學研究討工作坊在這方面取得了卓越的成果。論文集《全球化語境下的中國文學》收集了七名教師和校外十九名專家的論文26篇,通過了香港中文大學和北京大學的專家評審。為語文教學中的文學教學的改革提供了理論指導和實踐經驗。

中台港常用字聲韻調交互對照電腦輔助學習工具

 

本研究計劃把《中港台常用字廣州話普通話聲韻調對應關係研究》〈何國祥,2002〉資料電腦網絡化。電腦網絡化後產品不但方便使用者查檢有關對應資料,更配合媒體設計,令學與教能通過語音直接展示,令普通話與廣州話的學習效果更為有效。

中國語文能力測試工具的發展

中國語言文化沉浸課程學習的理論與實踐

 

本課題將認真檢討近五年來我校學生赴中國內地進行中國語言文化沉浸課程學習的理念、目標、課程設計、普通話及中國文化教學等,全面評估中國語文沉浸課程的成效,討論中國語文沉浸學習的規律。近年來與我校合作舉辦沉浸課程的首都師大、東北師大、吉林師大、陝西師大的專家一起,總結如何提高香港學生在中國內地沉浸學習的教學、管理水平。從而完善、優化中文系各類中國語文化沉浸課程,為中國語文沉浸課程的發展建立優質教學保證體系。

在香港小學與初中使用普通話教授中國語文科的可行性研究及普通話作為課堂教學語言課程的設計

 

研究分兩部份,第一部份是可行性研究。通過個案研究方式跟進本地六家中小學一線教師試驗使用普通話教授中文科的教學情況;並分別從學校行政、教師心態、學生中文及普通話成績及家長意見等項目探討在本地中小學使用普通話教授中文科的可行性;瞭解他們在教學中所面對的具體困難,並在適當時候提供援助。第二部份是設計課程培訓中小學教師使用普通話教授中國語文科。

Enhancing the Teaching Quality of Primary Classical Chinese Literature (Poem and Prose): The Construction of Knowledge and its Application on Teaching

提升小學文學教學(古典詩文)的素質:知識建構與教學應用

 

本計劃旨在開拓小學古典文學教學的學習材料,提高香港教育學院職前與在職學員在古典文學的鑑賞能力與教學的素質。以本計劃而言,研究先搜集柔整理適切小學生能力與興趣的古典詩文,就篩選文本撰寫導賞,為學員展示鑑賞古典文學作品的多元取向,並按導賞重點,組織而為單元教學的重心。為測試本計劃的與教材料的適切性,研究員會挑選學員(以中文為主修)進行試教。本計劃不但豐富以古典詩文為學習資源,還有利於課程推行方法、學習載體的應用,以及教師的專業發展,對職前在職師資堷訓課程具有參考價值。

語文師訓生雙語寫作能力研究初探──香港教育學院學生和國內交流生個案比較

 

本研究是針對香港目前特殊的語言環境,透過比較本院師訓課程一年級的本港及國內交流生的寫作能力,瞭解不同方言環境成長的語文師訓生用現代標準漢語及英語寫作,他們在思維過程上的分別和特點,和操不同的口語對雙語寫作能力的影響。教學工作者藉此更瞭解口語對學生學習的影響,從而對制定語言教學、師資培訓,或者是教育語言政策有更具體的參考。

錢鍾書詩化語言研究

 

一直以來,錢鍾書的作品給人「文字精警」的印象,也常讓人看了不禁會心微笑。然而,卻少有研究錢鍾書如何運用他詩化語言技巧製造出上述效果來。事實上,上述印象和效果全賴錢氏語言運用時的精密而且匠心的設計。本計劃為的是從錢氏使用的10種修辭格中,整理出錢氏運用語言的具體情況,從而為有興趣培養文學賞析能力的用者,提供可供研習和參考的材料,幫助用者掌握錢氏運用語言的變化,以及各種表達手法所產生的修辭效果。除此之外,本計劃也為用者提高寫作能力及為培養創意,提供具體而且堅實的基礎。
